Warranty Statement for Synology Products

All Synology products sold through authorized distribution channels are covered under the standard warranty terms outlined below. Warranty claim processing typically requires 15 to 20 working days. This warranty applies solely to units imported by Synology’s Authorized Partners directly from Synology Taiwan. Products sourced via unauthorized or “gray market” channels are not eligible for warranty coverage.


Clause: Services for Gray Channel Products

Mekkizone Technologies does not offer warranty or RMA (Return Merchandise Authorization) services for products obtained through gray market channels. However, Mekkizone Technologies does provide technical support for such products on a chargeable basis, excluding warranty or RMA services.


Support Types

1-Year Warranty
All Synology products purchased through authorized channels include a 1-Year comprehensive warranty.

For products that are either out of warranty or acquired through gray market channels, support services will be available at applicable service charges based on the type of support required.


Hardware Service Level Agreement (SLA)

For products covered under a hardware SLA contract, replacement or servicing will be completed within 12 to 24 hours. For non-SLA products, the standard warranty lead time (15 to 20 working days) applies.


Warranty Period Verification

The warranty period begins on the purchase date mentioned on the official receipt or invoice. To avail warranty services, customers must present the original invoice or receipt as proof of purchase. In the absence of proof, customers are advised to contact their local distributor or reseller for assistance in verifying purchase records.


Procedure for Warranty Claims

If your Synology product is within the warranty period:

  • Contact the reseller or agent from whom the product was originally purchased.
  • Follow their guidelines for initiating a replacement or repair claim.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) Regarding Warranty

Q: I purchased my NAS in another country. Can I claim warranty locally?
A: No. The warranty is only valid in the region where the product was originally purchased.

Q: Can I upgrade or exchange my defective NAS with a different model?
A: No. Under warranty, defective products will only be repaired or replaced with the same model.

Q: Does the warranty period restart after a repair or replacement?
A: No. The warranty period continues from the original purchase date.

Q: Is product registration required for warranty claims?
A: While not mandatory, registering your product on the Synology portal is recommended. The serial number and purchase invoice are sufficient for warranty services.

Q: Is Synology’s software/firmware covered under warranty?
A: Software and firmware are not covered under warranty. However, our Technical Support team will assist with issues directly related to Synology equipment.

Q: Will Synology or Mekkizone recover my data if lost?
A: Data backup is the customer’s responsibility. We strongly recommend regular backups. Local service providers may assist with recovery if feasible.

Q: What is the warranty policy for Synology hard drives?
A: Hard drives are covered under warranty only if they remain in original, undamaged condition. Drives that are physically damaged or mishandled will not be accepted for warranty claims.


Warranty Coverage
  • 5-Year Limited Warranty: 3 years comprehensive coverage + 2 years service warranty.
  • 3-Year Limited Warranty: 2 years comprehensive coverage + 1 year service warranty.
  • 2-Year Limited Warranty: 1 year comprehensive coverage + 1 year service warranty.

Conditions That Void Synology Hard Drive Warranty
  • Drives with physical damage or signs of mishandling.
  • Exposure to moisture, fire, or burn damage.
  • Drives with removed/tampered serial numbers, warranty seals, or stickers.

*Service warranty requires a payment of 20% to 25% of the product’s original purchase cost for replacement.
